Commons Network is excited to announce we will be attending the Democracy Alive festival on the Dutch island of Texel from 11 to 13 April 2019!
With the European elections just around the corner, the Democracy Alive festival is organised to celebrate European Democracy. The festival is an ideal way to bridge the gap between citizens and our representatives and to reinforce trust and optimism in the European Union. The goal is to connect citizens from across Europe with decision makers, elected representatives, NGOs, business people, trade unions, influencers, and activists.
The festival features many interesting organisations with each their own pavilion, theme, and event such as book readings, workshops, discussions and debates. Every contributing organisation celebrates European democracy in a different but unique way.
On the 12th of April at 12:00 till 14:00, Commons Network will be holding an event at our own pavilion called ‘Democratise Europe’. Commons Network and a diverse group of partners from civil society and activism worked together to write a Democratise Europe Manifesto. This manifesto will be presented at our pavilion at 12:00 and thereafter a debate will follow between politicians, activists and visitors of the festival.
After the launch of the manifesto, we will work hard to engage with politicians from all parties and all countries to let voters know before the elections whether they adopt this text and commit to fighting for a more democratic Europe.
Would you like to know more about the festival, the organisations, and the events? Make sure you check out the website Democracy Alive.
Do you want to join the debate on how to democratise Europe? Join us on Friday 12th of April 2019 at 12:00 till 14:00 on Groeneplaats, in the centre of Den Burg on the beautiful Dutch island of Texel!
