Sophie is a political economist and co-founder and director of Commons Network. She has been active in civil society for over 15 years, working from a feminist perspective on ideas, proposals and projects for a post-growth economy. As a social advocate in policy, she has worked at the European, national as well as city level. The knowledge commons and the digital domain are a common thread in her work. Throughout her career she co-initiated and coordinated several successful alliances of civil society organizations including on digital public space, as well as on access to medicines, trade and r&d in Europe and Latin America. She lives in Amsterdam and previously worked from the US, Brussels and Berlin. She regularly speaks and publishes on her ideas such as the Manifesto for a Caring Economy and the book Our Commons: Political Ideas for a New Europe.
